The power of our words is immeasurable. I remember 3 years ago when I was training for my first marathon, I was on a training run and I was listening to one of Yogi Bhajan’s lectures. His voice is very hypnotic and when I was on my long runs I would space out to the sound of his voice and my breath. I should share with you that until I was about 24 I never thought of myself as a runner, I actually hated running with a passion. So, for me to be running a marathon was a big deal and a huge identity shift from being someone who did not run, to someone running a marathon. It was a great challenge and to have the discipline to train for the marathon was huge. So, I was out on my long run, spacing out to the sound of his voice not grasping much of what he was saying until I heard the word “Victory.” As I ran one foot in front of the other that word kept repeating in my head... victory... victory... victory. It became my mantra on all my training runs and I even ended up getting a hat made with Victory on it for the marathon.
I share this with you because I have experienced the power of this word. Life its self can be a bit of a marathon at times. Sometimes we have choice and control over what goes on around us and sometimes we must flow with the river and keep our heads above water. Know that you can have victory no matter the circumstances. Try it, repeat this word when you are in the middle of the fire, when you are being stretched to grow and change. Allow it to become your mantra and see the magic unfold.
